GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Equipping suppliers with the insights and strategies to navigate an evolving industry is the focus of this year’s annual Michigan Automotive Suppliers Symposium, hosted by Grand Valley State University’s Van Andel Global Trade Center.
The symposium will offer insights on “Shifting Gears” to attendees at the DeVos Center’s Loosemore Auditorium on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus on Thursday, March 6, from 8 a.m. to noon.
"Michigan has been a long-standing and vital partner within the global automotive industry, and as we navigate an era of transformation, collaboration and innovation are more critical than ever," said Sonja Johnson, executive director of the Van Andel Global Trade Center. "The Michigan Automotive Suppliers Symposium provides a platform for industry professionals to gain cutting-edge insights from threats of global tariff rate changes as well as federal emissions and safety standard changes, while connecting with key players and preparing for the future.”
The event will feature a keynote fireside chat with Toyota Motor North America representatives. Robert Young, group vice president of Purchasing Supplier Development, and Ryan Grimm, group vice president of Purchasing Supplier Development, will be joined by title sponsor Plante Moran’s Mark Barrott to share their perspectives on the future of automotive supply and development.
In addition to the keynote chat, attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore some of Toyota's latest innovations through vehicles displayed at the symposium, offering a look at the future of automotive technology.
GVSU graduate Mike Wall returns to the symposium to give his Automotive Industry Outlook. West Michigan’s own Manufacturing Millennial, GVSU graduate Jake Hall, will provide insights on the future of manufacturing and technology in the workforce. The symposium also includes a panel of Michigan suppliers including, Magna, Pridgeon & Clay, Coastal Group, and AISIN to talk about all things automotive.
“Whether you're a Tier 1 supplier, a small business, or an industry veteran, this event offers invaluable perspectives to help Michigan’s automotive manufacturers stay competitive in this evolving landscape,” said Johnson.
